En 1987, recta final de una época dorada

más sensible y estremecedora, nostálgica,y revolucionaria de la música, aparecia la que probablemente es mi canción "balada pop"

espiritual, dulce, seca...

Un icono donde se han basado mis elecciones

y preferencias musicales de este estilo.

Alguien me dijo una vez textualmente:

"la música no es buena ni mala, ni mejor ni

peor, simplemente tiene su momento", esas

palabras se quedaron para siempre en mí, y

abrí más si cabe, mis oidos a "casi" todo tipo

de música. Este delicioso tema... siempre tiene su momento.

Es la tercera canción de su álbum de 1987 The Joshua Tree, fue lanzada como el primersencillodel álbum el 21 de marzo de 1987, convirtiendose de esta manera en el primer sencillo de U2 en alcanzar el n.º1 en Estados Unidos, donde permaneció durante un plazo de tres semanas.

Para varios, esta canción, que Bono compuso, es una balada para romper una relación y, según otros, es una canción sobre una charla con Dios. Se considera una de las mejores canciones de U2, con "Pride (In the Name of Love)" y "One".

Se añade un verso en vivo a menudo. En la letra se lee normalmente: «We'll shine like stars in the summer night / we'll shine like stars in the winter light / one heart, one hope, one love» (significa: «Brillaremos como estrellas en la noche veraniega / brillaremos como estrellas en la luz invernal / un corazón, una esperanza, un amor» y, por esta razón, los fans se refieren a menudo a este verso como «brillo como las estrellas».

Según una encuesta realiza en Londres, este tema de U2, es el séptimo más demandado en los funerales del Reino Unido.
